Coldwell Banker Commercial Paradise

John Culverhouse is a proud St. Lucie County native. John grew up in Fort Pierce, and returned home after attending college. John received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rollins College, and his Master of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University. John’s professional background is in real estate and public relations, but his passion is public service. John serves as a member of the St. Lucie County Citizens’ Budget Committee. For two consecutive terms, John was elected to serve as the Chairman by the committee members, who are both Democratic and Republican community leaders, which shows that he can work with members of both political parties as well as independents. As Chairman, John worked closely with the County Administrator, County Commissioners, and County staff during the County’s massive reorganization, in which 18 departments were merged into nine departments, while cutting a staff of nearly 1,000 employees down to 650. This experience has given John a thorough understanding of the county’s budget process and the economic issues that our county faces. John was a candidate for the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners in 2012. The Board of County Commissioners is comprised of five commissioners elected at-large from five districts within the county, responsible for an organization of over 600 employees and a total budget of $523,979,769 in 2012. St. Lucie County’s population was estimated at 280,379 in 2012. John enjoys calling South Florida home, and his interests include photography, traveling, nature, local history, and the weather. John is a member of Lincoln Park Main Street, Main Street Fort Pierce, the St. Lucie Historical Society, Inc., the Sons of the American Legion and the Southeast Florida Archaeological Society.
